The Makerspace Engineer supports the operation, maintenance, and growth of William & Mary's makerspaces, providing technical expertise, hands-on training, and operational leadership. Key qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Industrial Design, Architecture, STEM Education, or related technical field
- Experience operating and maintaining fabrication equipment such as CNC routers/mills, laser cutters, 3D printers, or welding equipment
- Knowledge of shop, laboratory, or makerspace safety practices with demonstrated ability to enforce safety procedures
- Experience teaching, training, or mentoring students, staff, or customers in safe and effective use of technical equipment
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills with ability to work collaboratively across campus
- Preferred: Expertise in multiple fabrication disciplines, prior university makerspace or fabrication laboratory experience, or experience supervising student employees and managing facility operations
