Summary
The New York State Education Department seeks Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) positions in the Office of Information Technology Services to develop and maintain IT solutions and web applications for NYSED's enterprise systems. Incumbents will work with the Business Solutions team to design databases, develop applications in Java, SQL, JavaScript/VueJS, and related languages, and collaborate with program staff to implement business requirements. This is a full-time, permanent position in Albany, NY with opportunities for telecommuting up to 50% and occasional off-shift work.

- Bachelor's degree with 15+ credit hours in computer science, OR bachelor's degree and 1+ years IT experience, OR 60+ college credits in computer science with 1+ years IT experience, OR 2+ years IT exp
- Knowledge and practical experience programming in Java, SQL, and/or VueJS
- Knowledge and experience with database design, implementation, and usage
- Knowledge and experience with Model-View-Controller (MVC) web applications and/or service-oriented architecture
- Preferred: high-level proficiency in Java, PL/SQL, SQL, VueJS, HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, Oracle database, and UNIX environments
