Summary
This contractual position serves as the Maryland State Department of Education's technical platform owner and primary administrator for the agency's enterprise Learning Management System (LMS). The role handles identity and access management for approximately 133,000 school employees across 24 local education agencies, manages system integrations and APIs, oversees platform configuration and governance, and serves as the primary vendor liaison. The position reports to the Director of IT Operations and carries no curricular responsibilities, focusing exclusively on the technical infrastructure and security posture of the LMS platform.
Key qualifications
- Five or more years of direct IT administration experience, including three or more years administering an enterprise or multi-tenant SaaS LMS (Canvas preferred)
- Experience establishing platform governance, provisioning, and building reporting and analytics for compliance and performance
- Experience managing vendor relationships and contract/SLA compliance for SaaS products, including SSO/identity federation in multi-organization environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills supporting executive-level and working-level stakeholders across multiple organizations
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to shifting priorities and changing organizational needs
