Summary
The Environmental Compliance Specialist III ensures compliance at hazardous materials transportation facilities and en-route shipments with state and federal regulations. The role provides emergency response, technical assistance, and oversight for incidents involving release or threatened release of regulated hazardous materials. Based primarily in North East Maryland and the Upper Eastern Shore, the incumbent will work roadside on highways, at inspection facilities, and in all weather conditions.
Key qualifications
- Six years of environmental regulatory compliance experience in hazardous waste control, water pollution, air quality, or related areas
- Current FMCSA North American Standard Part A Certification and FMCSA General Hazardous Materials Inspector certification
- Valid Maryland driver's license with no more than 5 points on driving record
- FMCSA Cargo Tank Inspector and FMCSA Other Bulk Package certifications
- Ability to work in hazardous conditions, climb vehicles, lift 50+ pounds, and don personal protective equipment
- Experience with hazardous materials response teams or roadside commercial vehicle safety inspections preferred
