This Biological Scientist III position is located in the Molecular Biology Section of the Bronson Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (BADDL) within the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Animal Industry. The incumbent performs molecular diagnostic tests on clinical samples using PCR, qPCR, and sequencing techniques, processes results in the Laboratory Information Management System, and communicates findings with the Section Head. Key qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biological, physical, natural, or agricultural sciences with 2 years of related professional experience (or master's degree with 1 year experience, or doctorate)
- Valid driver's license
- Competence in molecular analytical tests including PCR, qPCR, and DNA/RNA extraction procedures
- Ability to work comfortably with respirators in biosafety level 2 and 3 containment facilities
- Pass pulmonary function test with medical evaluation and respirator fit-testing
- Strong technical judgment and ability to work independently
