Summary
The Principal Planner serves as a top-level planning professional in Delaware's State Office of Planning Coordination, responsible for coordinating statewide planning policy and representing state officials in planning matters at state, regional, and national levels. As one of three "Circuit Rider Planners," the incumbent will be the primary liaison for all local governments within one Delaware county while also contributing to diverse statewide planning projects. The position requires expertise in land use planning, geospatial data coordination, and planning project management.
Key qualifications
- Experience applying principles and practices of planning related to land use and geospatial data coordination
- Experience interpreting laws, rules, regulations and procedures in land use and geospatial data
- Experience in planning project management including planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating planning projects
- Preferred experience with ESRI GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro or Spatial Analyst
- Must obtain AICP certification within 24 months of hire
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
