Summary
This position provides budgetary and programmatic expertise to agency heads, fiscal officers, the Governor, and Legislature, assisting in development of the Governor's Recommended Budget and implementation of the final operating budget. The role reviews state agency requests for federal assistance and analyzes fiscal activities, legislation, and public policies. Available at entry level (Associate) or full performance level (Analyst) for work with agencies on issues of increasing complexity and high visibility.
Key qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Administration, Business, Accounting, Economics or related field
- Knowledge of financial administration including budgetary analysis, financial planning, revenue forecasting, and expenditure forecasting
- Knowledge of analyzing legislation and developing public policies with fiscal impact assessment
- Experience with standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets and databases
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data formatting and analysis from independent systems and external database sources (preferred)
- Ability to provide narrative report writing and make recommendations for operational changes
